We give thanks today for so much: the rain that we prayed for yesterday in church for the farmers in the area. We are together. We are healthy. God has provided for our needs today and in the past. We rest on the promise that our needs in the future will also be covered. We have dear friends and family all over the world. We are making new friends here.
Even though certain things can be a pain on a daily basis- for example, I bought a new light bulb to replace one in the living room. No sooner had I screwed it in and it gave a flicker, it was already broken.
Another similar event- I purchased a BBQ lighter, you know, the ones that have a button, butane and an adjustable nozzle. Well, I get it out of the box, and there is no fuel inside. (It is the kind that you cannot dis-assemble to re-fill) At times like that I am tempted to scream and start throwing my bad attitude around everything and carrying a heavier weight around my heart. I know that given time even the annoyances of living here will just seem funny. I hope that we can still look at them with grace and with hearts full of the knowledge that God is always in control and He provides what we need even if it takes a little longer to get to it than we want. So we practice being grateful. Even as hard as may seem to say thanks to God for broken light bulbs and butane lighters. Gracias a Dios!
